Movie Review (Synopsis)

Confessions of a Shopaholic (Film)

This movie review is based on the Confessions of a Shopaholic Film. The main character in this movie is  Rebecca Bloomwood, starring by  (Isla Fisher) who is shopping addicted and she lives with her best friend, Suze who is starring by (Krysten Ritter). She works as a journalist for a gardening magazines but she has a dream to join the fashion magazine that is Alette. On the way to an interview with Alette's Company, she buys a green scarf. Her credit card is declined, so Rebecca goes to a hot dog stand and offers to buy all the hot dogs with a check, if the seller gives her back change in cash, saying the scarf is to be a gift for her sick aunt. But, then the hot dog vendor refuses to agree with her and at last a man offers her with $20 note since he is feel compassion enough with the Rebecca's aunt condition. Unfortunately, when Rebecca arrives at the interview, she is told that the position has been filled. In turn, she is feel really disappointed.  This is due to her behavior that is she cannot control with her lust and desired, in order to pursuit with her happiness even though at last her behavior will ruin his career and future as well.

However, the receptionist tells her there is an open position with the magazine Successful Saving, explaining how getting a job at Successful Savings could eventually lead to a position at Alette magazine company. Rebecca interviews with Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy), the editor of Successful Savings and the man who just gave her the $20. She hides her scarf outside his offices, but Luke's assistant comes into the office and gives it back to her. Finally, Rebecca knows that the game is up and over and she decided to leave the office .

That evening, she was drunk and her friend, Suze writers a letter to Alette and Successful Companies, but she mails each to the wrong magazines. Luke likes the letter she meant to send to Alette Company and hires her. Rather than completing a work assignment for a new column, Rebecca goes to a clothing sale. While inspecting a pair of cashmere gloves she has just purchased, she realizes it is not 100% cashmere and she has been duped. This gives her an idea for the column, which she writes under the name " The Girl in the Green Scarf" and is an instant success.

Then, Rebecca later returns home to renewed the confrontations with her debt collector, so Suze makes her attend Shopaholics Anonymous. The group leader is Miss Korch starring by Wendie Malick, forces Rebecca to donate all the clothes that she just bought, including a bridesmaid's dress for Suze's wedding and      a dress for a Television interview. After the meeting Rebecca cannot affordable enough to buy back both and buys back the interview dress. During the interview sessions, Rebecca is accused of not paying her debts and at last she loses her job. Suze totally get mad with her when she finds out that Rebecca lost the bridesmaid dress. The Alette Company had offered Rebecca a position at the magazines, but Rebecca declines to accept that offer. After that, she had decided to sell most of her clothes to pay back her debts, including the green scarf as well.  Meanwhile, Luke starts a new company, that is Brandon Communications.

In turn, her decision to sell the most of her clothes seems attains her goal since she is able to pay back her debts. Rebecca attends Suze's wedding after she had reclaiming her bridesmaid dress, and finally she forgives her. Rebecca and Luke reunite, and Luke returns the green scarf after revealing that the person who  bought it at an auction was acting as his agent. Rebecca becomes romantically involved with Luke and starts her new life by working at his new company. The main intention Luke did that thing towards Rebecca was  to change her behavior which was to obsess to purchase the items that she was not needed at all.

In my opinion, personally I think that, she was behaved like that since as for her, being as a shopaholic  is the key of her in order to pursuit with her happiness event though she realizes that it will lead her life attain the disasters than triumphs. There is nothing wrong to buy the items  that she is craving for but, at least she knows how to control and manages her cash flow as well.
