Dr.Hunter "Patch" Adams

This review was based on Patch Adams Film

Laughing is the best Medicine_ Dr.Hunter " Patch" Adam

Patch Adams is a 1998 comedy drama film starring by Robin Williams. This film is generally considered a box-office success, grossing over twice its budget in the United States alone. However, it was poorly received by most critics.

The first quotation from  this film is:  "You treat a disease, you win you lose. If you treat the patient, I guarantee that you'll always win".

Just in time for the holidays comes " Patch Adams", the heartwarming and poignant true story of Hunter " Patch" Adams, a doctor afflicted with " excessive happiness". Institutionalized for the depression during the early Sixties was inspired him to become a doctor, though not by indifferent doctors responsible for his care. Instead, he discovered a profound sense of purpose in helping his fellow patients overcome their own problems. With this new direction in his life, he attended the University of Virginia which is Medical School in 1969 and eventually went on to form the Gesundheit Institute, an unconventional Medical Clinic aimed at providing personalized and compassionate care open to all the public.

The second quotation from this film is: " Your job here is to ruthlessly drain the humanity out of you and make something better out of you... we're going to make you doctors".

The bulk of the film takes place during Patch's time in Medical School, where he find his own philosophy of treating the patients at odds with that of his colleagues and teachers, who choose to focus on " treating the disease" instead. His highly critical roommate Mitch starring by Philip Seymour Hoffman, who is under enormous pressure to succeed, believes that Patch is a buffoon who has no business being in Medical School among the "real" students. Dean Walcott starring by Bob Gunton sees Patch as a troublemaker, and becomes increasingly displeased with his offbeat antics, which include the clowning around with children in the cancer ward and injecting humor into staid and stuffy vicinity. That mean, Patch have his own way and thought in order to treat and cure the disease. He implemented the sense of humor in order to make his patients smile and laugh since, as for him it will speed the cure process at all.

The third quotation from this film is: "What are you doing here? If you want to be a clown, go join the circus"!

Fortunately, Patch does manage to find a couple of allies in his quest and effort  to return the humanity into the cold and indifferent doctor-patient relationship. The shy and Sheltered Truman starring by Daniel London becomes inspired by Patch's willingness to buck the system and to do the unexpected. The emotionally vulnerable Carin starring by Monica Potter, on the other hand, initially rejects Patch's over the top of frankness and tries to keep all the relationships in her life, both professional and personal, at a distance. However, Patch's contagious enthusiasm eventually melts away Carin's icy cold facade, and she ends up becoming inspired by the kindness and sincerity of his actions.

The fourth quotation from this film is : "Like so many brilliant people, you think that the rules don't apply to you".

Unfortunately, Patch soon learns that the road to Hell is certainly paved with the good intentions, with his off the wall antics falling under the scrutiny of the school's more conservative elements. In addition, to being threatened with expulsion for allegations of cheating and behavior unbecoming of the profession, Patch begins to question his own idealism and reckless disregard of the rules when he is faced with the tragic consequences resulting from his own actions and decisions.

To sum up, Patch Adams uses his own method and technique in order to give the remedies towards his patients. As for him, they also need the sense of humor to fight and deal with their diseases in order to speed up the cure process. Dr. Hunter Patch Adams also known as Dr. Clown among the children patients since the sense of humor that he implemented brings the great impact on children's life  as well. He also taught  the public to realize and open their eyes  that, the patients need to smile and laugh since is the best medicine and it will boost your antibody to fight the disease when you are thinking in positive side. In turn, the patients also have their own right to pursuit with their happiness although they are suffering enough to combat with their disease. When his patients felt happy with their own life, he totally will attain his degree of happiness as a whole.

According to Dr. Hunter Patch Adams, the keys of happiness for them are by laughing since it is the best medicine for them. In turn, smiling and laughing will change their perception on how they interpret and see their life and the whole world as well.

The Law of The Garbage Truck

How often do you let other people’s nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day? Unless you’re the Terminator, you’re probably set back on your heels. However, the mark of your success is how quickly you can refocus on what’s important in your life.

Based on the author experienced,  he had learnt about this thing  back to sixteen years ago at the New York City in a taxi cab. When he hopped  in a taxi, the driver took him off for Grand Central Station. They were driving in the right lane when all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of them. The taxi driver slammed on his brakes, the car skidded, the tires squealed, and at the very last moment their car stopped just one inch from the other car's back-end.

He could not believe it. But then he could not believe what happened next. The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words and cursed at them.

How does he know? Ask any New Yorker, some words in New York come with a special face. And he even threw in a finger salute! He could not believe it! But then here is what really blew him away. The taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And the author tried to advocate here was, the taxi driver was really friendly and had the good manner in to deal with this problem as well. So, the author said, " Why did you just do that!? That guy could have killed us.!" And this is when the taxi driver told him what he now calls, " The Law of The Garbage Truck". He said that,

“Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they look for a place to dump it. And if you let them, they’ll dump it on you.

So when someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Believe me. You’ll be happier.”

So he started thinking, how often does he let Garbage Trucks run right over him? And how often do he take  his garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the street? It was then that he  said, “he does not want his garbage and he not going to spread it anymore.”

He began to see Garbage Trucks. Like in the movie “The Sixth Sense,” the little boy said, “I see Dead People.” Well now “He sees the Garbage Trucks.” he sees the load they’re carrying. He sees them coming to dump it. And like the taxi driver, he don’t take it personally; in turn, he  just smile, wave, wish them well, and he  move on.

Frankly speaking, everyone in this world will have facing this kind of scenario and I am not the exceptional one.  During last two semesters, I had the problem with my friend. She does not like me because she cannot cope  with the way how I  do the revisions and study. She does not like me when I am doing my assignment and she just wants me to have fun and wasting my time every day. What kind of friend, she is? She always talked the bad thing about me to other classmates. So what should I do? I felt really depress. But, praise to Allah S.W.T, I got the full support from  my parents and families members in order to combat and deal with this kind of garbage.

So, personally, I think, these groups of people are always trying to find your're false even though you are kind enough with them. Maybe there is something wrong with their heart. Who knows? According to William Wycherley stated that, the hunger, revenge, to sleep are sleepy foes, but only death the jealous eyes can close.

So the odds are against you when a Garbage Truck comes your way. But when you follow The Law of the Garbage Truck™, you take back control of your life. You make room for the good by letting go of the bad.The best leaders know that they have to be ready for their next meeting. The best sales people know that they have to be ready for their next client. And the best parents know that they have to be ready to greet their children with hugs and kisses, no matter how many garbage trucks they might have faced that day.

All of us know that we have to be fully present, and at our best for the people we care about. The bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take over their lives. What about you? What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by? Here’s my bet: You’ll be happier.

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so love the people who treat you right and just forget and erase about the one who is vice versa. Believe that everything that happens in our life for a reasons, If you get a chance, just take and grab it, If it changes your life, just let it. Nobody said it would be easy and they just promised it would be worth it.

All in all, people out there just implement this kind tips maybe it will acts as a catalyst to help you in order to battle with this group of people. Therefore, the keys of happiness in our life is just be nice, act politely with the people who are misbehaved or impolite with you and just smile since it will kill them silently. The power of smile and it is the best medicine in deeply. So, bear in mind never let the garbage truck run over you.

A Great Actor, Director And Humanitarian Johnny Depp Biography

Johnny Depp, was born in Kentucky on June 9th 1963 has followed a bizarre road, consequently landing him as one of today's top Hollywood actors.  Born John Christopher Depp II, young Depp was originally interested in pursuing a music career. Following a move to Florida, and his parents divorce by age 16, Depp strayed from his peers and siblings and reclused within a life of drugs and alcohol.  Teenage Depp dropped out of school to pursue a career in rock and roll music. Over the next few years, Depp fronted numerous garage bands - the most famous entitled The Kids, opened for Iggy Pop.  Perhaps more importantly, the success of The Kids furnished Depp with a rising sense of popularity and accomplishment - ironically shot down by Iggy Pop himself during a back-stage confrontation.

Determination and hope for stardom inspired the band to relocate to Los Angeles.  Depp married by age 20 to Lori Allison, the band's make-up artist.  As his band struggled among the competitive West-coast market, Depp (under suggestion from his wife) decided to try acting.  An introduction to Nicolas Cage reluctantly persuaded Depp to audition.  Depp's first film debut was in Wes Craven's major motion picture A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984).  Unable to regain momentum, The Kids spilt-up soon after the movie's release and Depp diverged from his first love, music, to follow a life of acting.  A small role in Platoon (1986) by Oliver Stone followed. Unwilling at first, Fox pursued Depp to star in a new series entitled 21, Jump Street.  Although Depp felt this show "beneath him," it actually catapulted his success as an actor and turned him into a teenybopper idol.
Next came an extraordinary run of movie roles for Depp.  Within five years, starting in 1993, Depp starred in an array of movies including: What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Benny and Joon, Arizona Dreaming, Nick of Time, and Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man.  It was during this time of stressful success that Depp began to relapse.  Again, an unhappy Depp began using drugs and alcohol to escape from reality.  Stuck in the depths of disillusion, troubled Depp started an on-off relationship with supermodel Kate Moss (1996); almost simultaneously being arrested twice for both trashing his NY hotel room and fighting a member of the paparazzi (1999).  Although his life was in and out of shambles, on screen Depp continued to establish himself as an incredible actor.

In 1998, Depp split with supermodel Kate Moss and started a relationship with French singer Venessa Paradis, relocating to Paris with his two children (Lily-Rose and Jack) in hope to pursue a more normal life.  Ironically, the next role he played was perhaps one of the farthest from normal - He was cast as Hunter S. Thompson in Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.  Work opportunities continued and Depp continued acting, starring in such films as: The Source, The 9th Gate (shot in Paris where he met Paradis), Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow, and the Oscar nominated Chocolat; all the while, Depp managed to continue his musical interests by appearing in an array of music videos (including Tom Petty's "The Great Wide Open"), producing music with his band P, and directing several videos for his wife (2001).

Depp's anti-conformity within Hollywood allowed for his brilliant participation in such roles as: Blow (Depp playing George Jung who helped notorious Pablo Escabar gain entrance into the US cocaine market), and From Hell.

Strangely, Depp disappeared in 2002 after From Hell for unknown reasons. It is speculated that the reason behind the disappearance was due to the collapse of a movie he was working on entitled The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.  In 2003, it was announced that this project would be refinanced and in fact debut.   When Depp did return to Hollywood, it was with none other than the smash hit Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) - which made $200 million in only four weeks.  Aside from a small part in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Depp continued to single-handedly capture audiences with Neverland, Secret Window (based on a Steven King story), and The Libertine (2004).

All in all, there are many films that he involved and acts. Even though he does not win any award but it  is not the catalyst to indicate that, he is not great actor at all.
